Our idea is simple. Small circle, old wines and Grand Crus.
We enable connoisseurs and lovers of old wines to share equally exquisite and unique experiences with a few like-minded people.
We are wine lovers. And treasure hunters. Because the stocks of old wines from great vintages are naturally limited our idea is to track down these treasures and – in some cases – legends worldwide, in order to curate them for a select group of wine lovers.
The winter 1985 brought extreme frost of -20 °C on Mouton, which damaged some vines, an average spring, but then nice weather and a very dry summer. The grape harvest on Mouton took place from September 26th to October 11th. Somewhat unusual weather conditions often lead to an unusual mix of grape varieties in the top wineries. 1985: Cabernet Sauvignon 75%, Merlot 12%, Cabernet Franc 10%, Petit Verdot 3%. The low proportion of Merlot is due to the dry weather, which conversely benefited the more difficult Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The artist label for 1985 comes from the "magical realist" Paul Delvaux.
👁 deep brillant ruby red
👃 beguiling scent of ripe red, sweet cherries and herbs
👄 a rich bouquet of ripe cherries, earth and herbs, round tannins and pleasant acidity, 12.5% alcohol, on the palate a perfect interplay between sweet fruits, wood notes and a never-ending finish
The location of Château Gazin is a 26 hectare dream. Located on the gently sloping hill directly behind the prominent neighbors Château Petrus and Château Evangile, the vineyard extends. The entire vineyard area is on one plot and not, as with many other châteaux, on several individual plots. The @chateaugazin has been owned by the Bailliencourt dit Courcols family since 1917, and two brothers are now in the fifth generation of the family, Nicolas de Bailliencourt has been managing the estate since 1988. The average 35-year-old vines consist of 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc.
🍇 intense garnet red with purple reflections on the edge
👁 fruit notes of cherries, plums and cassis, the tannins are silky smooth, the wine has perfect aging notes and shows an amazing fullness, classic spice and earthy tones emphasise the palate, the finish is impressively long
👃 fantastic potpourri of fully ripe forest fruits and truffles
La Lagune is located in Ludon-Médoc and is the first winery when coming from the city of Bordeaux along the famous wine route, the „Route du Vin“, in a north-westerly direction. The estate is quite large with around 80 hectares. 60% of the area is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% with Merlot and 10% with Petit Verdot. The wines are aged 50% in new barriques and is the only winery that has a closed system of pipes from the stainless steel tanks to the barriques in order to save the wine from any unwanted contact with oxygen, this development should only take place in the wood. Only the sale to a large family company from Champagne brought the qualitative quantum leap. Since the beginning of the new millennium, Château La Lagune has been the undisputed number 1 in the Haut-Médoc, ahead of Belgrave, and in terms of quality it is once again ranked as a 3ème Cru.
👁 beautiful deep garnet red
👃 intense aromas of ripe red fruits
👄 ripe cherries and a hint of blackberries, concentrated but soft tannins, 12.5 alcohol, balanced acidity, pure harmony between the aromas, nuances of oak and vanilla on the palate, long fruity aftertaste
Château Lascombes is one of largest wineries in the Médoc region. @chateau_lascombes has 112 hectares of vineyards in the Margaux appellation and six in the Haut-Médoc appellation. In 2011 the winery was taken over by MACSF, but even with the takeover, not much has changed, rather the tradition continued. There is no "high-tech-new-oak-winemaking" here, a maximum of 70% new wood is used. The wine is a blend of around 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. The one and a half year maturation takes place in 80% to 100% new oak barrels. The result has a balance that would suit so many famous neighbors.
👁 clear impressive ruby red
👃 ripe dark berries with a herbal note
👄 ripe dark cherries, elegant and soft tannin structure, balanced acidity, on the palate the fruity notes predominate and are accompanied by tobacco notes in the long finish
It is perhaps the most legendary wine in the world. Almost 100% Merlot (maximum 5% Cabernet Franc is included) belies anyone who claims that Merlot can´t age. Until 2004 the building was so inconspicuous that more visitors drove by than those who were interested found it. In the end it doesn't matter, there are no appointments on Petrus anyway. Extensive modernization and renovation began in 2005, and three years later a new chapter was opened in winemaking. In 2008, Olivier Berrouet, who was just 33 years old at the time, succeeded his father as cellar master. Since then, the wines have tasted a bit fuller, fresher and more juicy. The fruit is more ripe, but the alcohol content is slightly higher. The cultivation area of Petrus is now 12 hectares.
🍇 The 1983 vintage was overshadowed by the previous year from the start. A good bloom was followed by a very hot July and August. From mid-August onwards, massive rains set in. The beautiful, dry weather returned in September and October. A vintage that has produced many positive surprises and a whole range of interesting long lasting wines, at affordable prices.
👁 clear garnet red with a light border
👃 promising nose of sweet fruits
👄 somewhat incoherent black and red fruits with a distinct herbaceous nuance, medium body, light acidity and round tannin structure, distinctive cedar notes mix with the fruits in the middle finish
Aging: 19-22 months in 100% new French barriques from Allier and Niévre, fining, no filtration | average vine age: 40 years | alcohol: 12,5% The Romanian-born American painter and cartoonist Saul Steinberg designed the label of 1983.
🍇 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot
👁 dark even ruby red with brown reflections on the rim
👃 beautiful red ripe fruit
👄 ripe cherries and dried fruits with all the typical older Bordeaux notes i.e. cigar box, cedar, leather, smooth and silky without the usual power of bigger vintages, on the palate, the fruit fades quite quickly, the finish is medium-long, surrounded by wonderful aging notes
The first step to becoming a wine connoisseur is always the first glass of wine. It can arouse curiosity, tell stories, ignite passion. For us, it was the beginning of an inspiring journey that gradually took us to the highest peaks of pleasure and the oenological world.
Almost everyone knows this quote by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. For many it may sound a bit presumptuous, but for us it is the standard of our work. Because our guests and customers expect what is at the core of our philosophy: quality beyond the ordinary.
It all started with the love for wine, stylishly presented in a personal wine diary on Instagram. More and more wine lovers took a liking to it and inspired us to make more of it. Today, we offer wine tastings and events that combine enjoyment, exclusivity and professional organization to create a unique experience.
